This year marks the 70 anniversary of the death of Bela Bartok and the 40 anniversary of the death of Dmitri Shostakovich – two important composers of the last century.

On Monday, November 30, 2015 at 7 p.m. at the Museum of Split, will be performed a concert entitled

“Concerto for Viola by Bela Bartok Sonata for Viola and by Dmitri Shostakovich – two musical testaments of XX century.”

Interpreters are Wladimir Kossjanenko, Viola and Vesna Podrug, Piano.

Concerto for Viola and Orchestra opus posthumous is one of the most important pieces by Bartok and in a special way reflects the catastrophe of World War II, which has been completed at the same time with the composition of this work.

In the same concert will be played Sonata for Viola and Piano by Dmitri Shostakovich. As like as Bartok’s Concerto for Viola, is this the last work of Shostakovich, that composer finished only few days before his death in August 1975^th.
